Cross-Cultural Competency Training

Our Cross-Cultural Competency Training builds the skills people need to collaborate across race, culture, language, and lived experience with more ease and respect. It is especially helpful for teams serving diverse communities, interdepartmental coalitions, and partnerships that span different regions or backgrounds.

We begin by exploring how culture shapes values around time, communication, authority, and conflict. Through guided activities, participants notice their own default styles and how those might be interpreted by others. From there, we practice concrete tools for bridging differences: asking clarifying questions, checking assumptions, and slowing down when tensions rise.

Instead of teaching a list of "do's and don'ts" about specific groups, we focus on building habits that travel with you into any cross-cultural setting. That includes recognizing power dynamics, reading context, and adapting without erasing yourself. We also look at how organizational norms may unknowingly center one cultural way of being and what it would look like to widen the circle.

Participants work with real scenarios from their work-intake conversations, parent meetings, staff conflicts, community outreach-and rehearse new approaches in a low-risk environment. We weave in opportunities for quiet reflection as well as interactive practice, so a range of learning styles feel supported.

Teams leave with shared language for talking about cultural differences without stereotyping, strategies for more inclusive communication (especially in multilingual or multiracial settings), and a clearer sense of how to design programs and meetings where more people feel respected. Over time, this training helps reduce misunderstandings, build trust, and strengthen your ability to meet the needs of the communities you serve.
