Community Building Workshop

Community Building Workshop

$375.00
Our Community Building Workshop is designed for groups who want more than polite meetings-they want real connection, shared purpose, and lasting trust. Whether you're organizing a neighborhood coalition, a school committee, or a nonprofit team, this session helps people move from "a group of individuals" to "a community that has each other's back."

We start by naming what gets in the way: past harm, unspoken tension, cultural misunderstandings, and power differences that make some voices louder than others. Drawing on examples from community efforts across Oregon / California, we offer simple, repeatable practices for bringing people together in ways that honor race, culture, language, age, and lived experience.

During this workshop, participants will:
- Build shared agreements that center safety, respect, and accountability
- Practice storytelling circles that invite everyone in without forcing disclosure
- Learn facilitation moves that balance dominant voices with quieter ones
- Explore conflict as a normal part of community life-and try gentle repair tools

Activities are interactive but low-pressure: think small group conversations, paired reflection, and collaborative planning instead of icebreakers that make people cringe. We are especially mindful of not putting marginalized folks in the position of teaching or defending their humanity.

This workshop works well at the start of a new initiative or as a reset when a group feels stuck or divided. Participants leave with a stronger sense of belonging, practical rituals they can use in ongoing meetings, and a renewed belief that diverse groups really can build something powerful together.
